Plot Tetris (2023) movie

Henk Rogers sees the new video game “Tetris” and loves it. As result, he convinces the banker to give him a loan to be a partner with Nintendo. Henk goes to USSR to meet the inventor of the game. At the same time, Kevin Maxwell, the son of the billionaire, wants to buy handheld rights for this game.

Henk Rogers offers to buy handheld rights for the game and fails. The KGB officer wants to receive the bribe and intimidates Nikolai Belikov, the director of ELGOR. Alexey Pajitnov, the programmer, invites Henk to visit his apartment. He wants he earn money from his invention and helps American businessman.

Henk asks him to show the real underground life. They go where people show that they don’t want to live in the Soviet Union anymore. Trifonov, the KGB officer, forces Belikov to accept a non-competitive offer from Maxwell’s company and refuse the contract from Rogers. As a result, Rogers must leave the country.

Represents of Nintendo are informed that Maxwell doesn’t have rights to Tetris. As result, they go to ELGOR and buy exclusive rights. Meanwhile, Maxwell visits Gorbachev in person, and Belikov asks Alexey to help Henk to win the contract.

Finally, Sasha arrests the KGB boss, Henk return to Japan, and meets Alexey Pajitnov in the new country.
