Plot Fingernails (2023) movie
Anna is looking for a job. As a rule, she works as a teacher in primary schools, but now she wants to work at Love Testing Institute. It’s an educational place that helps people to bond with each other. Surprisingly, her application was accepted, and she can start work.
High-end technology invented the device to determine if your love is mutual and the price is your fingernail. Ryan and Anna passed the test 3 years ago successfully. If you 100% test positive, your relationship is real. However, if your test is negative, you don’t love each other. Some cases are sad stories when only one person is in love, and their result is a 50% positive test.
The institute has exciting methods. For example, they think the rain and singing in French is romantic. Anna shadows an instructor, Amir, who creates a lot of bonding programs such as “Find your partner by his smell” or “Watch each other under the water.” They meet Maria and John, who are not ideal partners; however, instructors try to help them bond. Another couple is Sally and Rob, where Rob feels invisible because Sally dominates him.
Anna meets Amir’s girlfriend Natasha, who doesn’t know important details about her boyfriend. After the parachute exercise, Anna and Amir are in the mud, so they go to his apartment. Anna sees his bathroom and realizes that Amir has no real girlfriend. Later, Maria and John are frustrated because their test is negative.
Rob refuses to pass the test until Amir agrees to rip off his fingernail. Later, Anna uses the opportunity to discover if Amir is in love with her. She sacrifices the nail. The result is disappointing because it’s 50%. After the argument, she encourages Ryan to pass the test again. Although the result is 100% positive, she understands that science is wrong.
Anna reveals to Amir about her experiments, and he admits that his result is always 50%. She brings the soup to him after he leaves the institute. Eventually, Anna doesn’t want to return to Ryan and is in love with Amir. Finally, she rips off her fingernails and stays with Amir, her true love.
